Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy is a collaborative process where a trained mental health professional helps you explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and patterns in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. It can provide relief from challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties, while also equipping you with tools to navigate life more effectively.

Importantly, therapy isn’t only for moments of crisis. Many people seek therapy to enhance their self-awareness, gain clarity, and elevate their personal and professional growth. It can be a powerful space to reflect, reset, and pursue self-actualization—reaching toward your fullest potential and most authentic self.

Whether you're navigating a specific issue or simply feeling called to grow, therapy offers a structured and empowering space for meaningful change.

  • Therapy isn’t just for moments of crisis—it’s for anyone seeking growth. I work with individuals who may feel stuck or disconnected from their full potential, yet hold a deep desire for peace, freedom, and wholeness. In our work together, we’ll explore the life you truly want, identify what’s getting in the way, and uncover what needs to be revealed, released, rooted, or integrated to move forward. Healing looks different for everyone, and together, we’ll define what that means for you—so you can live with greater alignment, purpose, and fulfillment.

  • Your first session is all about getting to know you. We’ll spend time exploring what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work through or toward, and what you’d like your experience in therapy to feel like. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—this is a space we’ll build together at your pace.

We’ll also go over important details like confidentiality, how sessions are structured, and how we’ll measure progress. If you're unsure about your goals, that’s okay too—part of my role is helping you discover clarity along the way.

Most importantly, this first session is a space for you to get a feel for how I work and decide if this feels like a good fit. I welcome your questions and feedback. Therapy is a collaborative process, and your comfort, safety, and growth are at the center of everything we do.

  • I offer therapy as private pay only and do not accept insurance. However, I'm happy to provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. This allows us to keep our work focused, personal, and centered on your growth and healing.

  • Therapy is an investment in your well-being, and part of that process includes having open and respectful conversations about financial expectations. As financial maturity is an important aspect of overall lifestyle and personal growth, I believe in clear communication from the start.

Payment is due at the time of each session unless we’ve discussed and agreed upon a different arrangement in advance. I understand that life happens, and I’m always open to discussing payment needs or concerns when approached with honesty and mutual respect.

Payments are made securely through the SimplePractice client portal, where your billing information is confidential and protected. You can conveniently manage invoices, view balances, and update payment methods at any time.

Because I reserve time specifically for each client, a $45 late cancellation fee applies to sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, and a $65 no-show fee is charged for missed appointments without prior communication. These policies support the sustainability of my practice and ensure availability for all clients.

My goal is to provide care that is both meaningful and manageable, while also running a practice that values time, energy, and mutual commitment.

  • I use SimplePractice, a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform designed specifically for mental health professionals. This platform allows us to conduct video sessions, manage paperwork, and handle billing—all in one confidential and protected space.

Your privacy and confidentiality are a top priority. SimplePractice uses industry-standard encryption to ensure that all personal health information (PHI), including forms, messages, and video sessions, is kept secure. You’ll have your own private client portal where you can schedule sessions, complete intake forms, sign documents, and make payments—safely and conveniently.

As a licensed professional, I adhere strictly to HIPAA guidelines and ethical standards to safeguard your information and maintain the integrity of our work together.

If you ever have questions about how your information is handled or how to navigate the platform, I’m here to walk you through it.

  • No. Psychiatrists can prescribe. If needed, your therapist can coordinate care or refer you appropriately.

I believe in starting with a holistic approach to growth before turning to medication for symptom relief. While medication can be helpful in certain cases, lifestyle factors—such as sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships, and mindset—often play a significant role in how we experience and manage symptoms. By addressing the whole person first, we can build a strong foundation for sustainable healing and well-being.

  • A strong therapeutic relationship—also called the therapeutic alliance—is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. You should feel heard, respected, and comfortable sharing openly. Over time, you may notice a sense of trust, progress toward your goals, or greater insight into your thoughts and behaviors.

That said, therapy is not one-size-fits-all. If at any point—whether after the first few sessions or several months in—you begin to feel that you're not making the progress you hoped for, please speak up. Your growth is what matters most. I don’t take it personally if we’re not the right fit. In fact, I welcome open conversations about how the process is going and whether a different therapist—or a different therapeutic approach—might better support you.

Therapy styles can also be adjusted. Whether you're looking for more structure, more space to explore, or a shift in focus, we can talk about how to tailor sessions to better meet your needs. My goal is always to walk alongside you in a way that feels effective and empowering.

  • Confidentiality is a foundational part of the therapeutic relationship. It means that what you share in session stays between us. My role is to provide a safe, private space where you can speak openly, without fear of judgment or exposure.

There are a few legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality—these are in place to protect you and others from harm. I am required to break confidentiality only in the following situations:

    • If there is a clear and immediate risk of serious harm to you or someone else

    • If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult

    • If I am subpoenaed by a court of law (even then, only the minimum necessary information will be disclosed)

That said, I believe strongly in transparency. If any situation arises that may require breaking confidentiality, I will always have a conversation with you first whenever possible. My priority is to protect you and to do no harm. These conversations are part of the therapeutic process and are handled with care, respect, and professionalism.

Your privacy matters deeply to me, and I am committed to earning and maintaining your trust throughout our work together.

  • Every person is unique—and so is their therapy. It would be presumptuous for me to name a specific treatment approach before getting to know your story, your needs, and your goals. With that in mind, I don’t use a one-size-fits-all method. Instead, I take an integrative, client-centered approach that draws from several evidence-based modalities to support your growth.

Your therapy experience with me will be uniquely tailored to you. Together, we’ll explore what works best for your life circumstances, preferences, and desired outcomes.

I often draw from the following approaches as part of my preferred eclectic style:

    • Internal Family Systems (IFS) – exploring the parts of yourself that may carry pain, protection, or purpose

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – identifying and reframing unhelpful thoughts and behavior patterns

    • Radical Acceptance – helping you make peace with things outside of your control while still creating meaningful change

    • Solution-Focused Therapy – leveraging your strengths to create practical steps toward your goals

Ultimately, we’ll use the tools and strategies that align best with your values, experiences, and personal journey.

  • While I’ve always appreciated the depth and connection that in-person therapy can offer, I currently provide all services via secure telehealth. I’m based overseas in England, which means my availability may fall outside of traditional business hours—but that’s by design. I work with clients who value therapy enough to make space for it, even if that means meeting at nontraditional times.

Telehealth has become a powerful tool for accessibility, offering flexibility and continuity no matter where life takes us. I’ve structured my practice to serve those who are ready to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being, and who are open to a therapeutic relationship that may not always follow a conventional schedule—but is no less committed, focused, or effective.

Living abroad has given me a deeper appreciation for adaptability, presence, and intentional connection—values I bring into every session. Whether you're between work and family responsibilities or carving out quiet time for yourself, therapy with me is centered on you—your goals, your timing, and your growth.

  • Yes! I offer guest speaking and workshop services for churches, schools, organizations, and community events. Topics can be customized but often include emotional intelligence, mental health awareness, stress management, conflict resolution, trauma-informed care, family restoration, and navigating life transitions. My style is engaging, informative, and always tailored to your audience’s needs.

  • I offer consulting services for individuals, teams, and organizations that want to go beyond surface-level solutions and make meaningful, sustainable change. Whether you’re navigating workplace stress, building a healthier team culture, or looking to integrate emotional wellness into your leadership practices, I bring a well-rounded, strategic, and personable approach to help you get there.

My consulting style blends clinical insight, educational expertise, and lived experience. With a background in teaching (B.A. in Middle Grades Education from the College of Coastal Georgia), a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, and years in both the mental health field and military life, I understand the human side of organizational dynamics—and I know how to help people and systems grow together.

    Consulting services may include:

    • Mental health education and emotional wellness training

    • Conflict resolution and communication strategies

    • Leadership development with a focus on self-awareness and relational intelligence

    • Team-building workshops that go deeper than icebreakers

    • Burnout prevention and support for helping professionals

    • Customized strategy sessions for churches, schools, nonprofits, or businesses navigating change or transition

I don't believe in cookie-cutter solutions. Each engagement is customized to your goals, culture, and context—whether it’s a one-time training or ongoing support. And yes, we’ll do serious work, but we’ll also laugh, learn, and walk away with tools you can actually use.

If you're looking for consulting that is insightful, honest, and rooted in both heart and strategy, let’s talk.

  • If you're looking for a speaker or consultant who brings both professional expertise and real-life perspective, I may be a great fit for your organization. My approach is grounded, engaging, and tailored to the unique needs of each audience—whether you're hosting a leadership retreat, staff training, community event, or wellness workshop.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education from the College of Coastal Georgia and began my career as a classroom teacher. That foundation has shaped my ability to connect with diverse groups, communicate complex ideas clearly, and foster meaningful learning environments. I later earned my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Virginia and have since worked extensively in the mental health field, supporting individuals, families, and teams through a wide range of emotional and relational challenges.

My background also includes years of experience as a military spouse, which gives me a lived understanding of resilience, transition, and the demands placed on families, leaders, and service members alike. I bring both clinical knowledge and personal insight into my work—bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.

If your team values authenticity, practical tools, and lasting impact, I’d be honored to collaborate. I’m happy to offer a free consultation to explore your goals and see if we’re the right fit.
